Four Plausible Scenarios for Transport in New Zealand in 2048

Author Published Date Read Publication

This research focuses on four scenarios designed to trigger debate about plausible future transport systems.

The research used workshops, discussion, and stakeholder consultation to develop four scenarios between two uncertainty axes (automation and consumption). The four scenarios are: Custom Cocoons, Mode Nomads, Amped Autos, and Active Scouts. Fundamentally, it asks what kind of society we want to live in, and whether a given change might help us to get there. Some possibilities include changing social dynamics of communities and care, but there are many important questions that currently remain unexplored.
